Getting Braces as an Adult
Straight teeth don’t just look good, they also come with oral health benefits. Properly-aligned teeth are easier to clean and generally maintain, leading to a reduction in gum disease and tooth decay. Waiting too long to get orthodontic treatment can lead to long-term, expensive health issues.
The American Association of Orthodontics states that one in four orthodontic patients is over the age of 18. More adults are interested in improving their smile than ever before, partly thanks to new technologies like Invisalign® and ceramic brackets.

Teeth Straightening Options for Adults
There are multiple options for adults to improve their smiles including braces, clear aligners, and clear braces.
Invisalign® for Adults (Clear Aligners)
An extremely popular option for adults getting braces, Invisalign® uses a clear aligner system to straighten teeth discreetly without changing your outward appearance.
Invisalign® can offer adults more flexibility, better comfort, and virtually invisible teeth straightening for the least disruption to your life.
Metal Braces
Advancements in orthodontic technology have made metal braces for adults far more comfortable and discreet than they were decades ago.
Metal braces use a combination of wires and brackets affixed directly to the teeth, and doctors prescribe elastic bands to move teeth and correct the bite.
Clear Braces
Clear braces for adults offer a more inconspicuous option than the traditional metal braces. Tooth-colored or clear ceramic brackets are less visible.
